We propose a summer, without filters but with SPF 50+ for your hair, skin and also the “coconut”.  Friend, summer is already here and you know it. The warmth arrives, the mojito-flavored kisses, the dips in hidden coves and the laughter under skies full of stars. But among so much rainbow emotion, your skin and hair also have something to say (spoiler: help!)

And, of course, your mind also deserves its little bit of glory beyond Instagram doomscrolling.

So open your toiletry bag, your hobby notebook and your heart: here is your summer lesbian self-care guide to shine like a goddess (but without melting in the attempt).

Queer-friendly skin: protected, hydrated and with a real glow

Protect yourself like you protect your friends from the toxic ex. Yes, sunscreen is your best ally. SPF 30 minimum, better 50. Reapply every two hours and not only on the beach. Even watching series with your crush on the terrace, the sun beats down hard.

And after a sunbath, your ally is aftersun, pour it on your skin as an emotional lubricant. It calms you, repairs you and smells amazing. Apply it after the sun and, if it has aloe vera, even better.

One way to refresh yourself when you can’t take a dip or have a cold beer is to use a facial mist everywhere. Refresh yourself with a facial mist like you’re Beyoncé in concert. It is useful in the mountains, in the pool and also when you are suffocating waiting for the bus without shade.

As an idea, we recommend that you put a small bottle of rose water or facial toner in the refrigerator, next to the salad container. You will revive!

Queer hair, free and with self-love (and mask)

Your hair is your flag. Treat it as such. Sun, chlorine, salt and wind can leave you drier than a conversation with your ex. Use sulfate-free shampoos and nourishing masks once a week. Do it in a group: masks at the rural house + gossip = great plan.

One important thing: Don’t be afraid of the hat! In addition to being sexy, it protects against “good” sunstroke and headaches. A tomboy-style cap, a vintage scarf or a French cinema lesbian hat, you decide the mood.

Beach waves yes, scourer no. Sprays with sea salt, yes because it is natural. But be careful: afterwards, hydrate your hair correctly, because not everything that shines is glitter, sometimes it is frizz.

We also suggest you have a proud brain: sudokus, haikus and puzzles

Who said vacations were only about sunbathing or taking that fantastic route? Here’s proof that you can cultivate your mind… and have a great time!

Grab your best Sudoku book under the umbrella, it’s a perfect plan for those moments between baths or while you wait for someone to bring you ice cream. Easy, medium or “I’m a brain in flip flops” mode.

You can also make Haikus with ice in the glass, write haikus on a napkin while your friends are taking a nap or on the top of a mountain. Three verses, five-seven-five syllables. And if it doesn’t rhyme, it doesn’t matter. Queer art has no rules.

Shadow on my back /
a shared laugh /
skin that is not forgotten.

Resort to the classics such as Puzzles at Sunset. Puzzles? Yes, the cutest crossword puzzles, made by and for us. Words like “activist”, “mariliendre”, “visibility”, “kiss”, “beer” or “bollodrama” are allowed.

Create a summer notebook with your friends. One day sudoku, another haiku, another drawing, another memory. Then you bind it with washi tape and love.

On the beach, the countryside or the mountains: you choose the setting, you write the story.  On the beach: hair with waves, facial mist and sudoku while playing Bad Gyal or María Pelae.  In the mountains: lesbian picnic, queer explorer hat, haikus among pine trees and low-voiced laughter. At the campsite: puzzles with a flashlight, stories told under the moon and masks that smell like mango.  At home (which is also a plan): spa session with your friends, reading queer manifestos and karaoke in flip flops.

Self-care doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be yours, so this summer, take care of yourself like you take care of your friends: with patience, laughter and lots of creams. You don’t need a 10-step routine to feel good, but you do need some time for yourself. Between the glow of your skin, the shine of your hair and the light of your thoughts, you are going to be a shooting star with a sense of humor and a good head.

See you on the beach, on the summit or in the sudoku on page 12.

Happy summer, diverse beauty!
