The world of fashion does not stand still. And in Spain, the new generation of designers is making it clear that they come wanting to shake everything up. Do they have something in common? The majority do not wait for the big houses to open the door to them: they build it themselves with new materials, brave speeches and an identity without complexes.

This 2025 is shaping up to be the year in which many of these creators will definitely take off. Some are already appearing on catwalks, networks or specialized editorials, but they are still at that magical point where anything can happen. Will any of these names be the next great reference in Spanish fashion? We don’t know for sure, but everything indicates that it is.

Here are five proposals that deserve your attention. It is not a ranking, nor a closed list. It is just a starting point to discover a larger universe.

1. Inés Domecq Studio: tradition with new eyes

Although Inés Domecq’s name is not totally unknown in the fashion scene (especially in the Andalusian circuit), her most recent line as a designer has taken a surprising turn. It fuses classic silhouettes—those that could have dressed our grandmothers at weddings or fairs—with risky cuts and unexpected fabrics. The result: a mix of sophistication, power and rebellion that connects with both the most traditional audience and those looking for unique pieces with soul.

The best? His way of reclaiming Spanish craftsmanship without falling into nostalgia or empty folklore. Each collection feels like a conversation between generations.

2. Jorge Sánchez: gender, technology and a lot of attitude

Graduated in fashion design at the IED in Madrid, Jorge has been playing with the idea of “liquid identity” for some time. Their proposals have no gender, nor do they seek it. What they do have is a lot of character: extreme volumes, smart materials, 3D printing and even augmented reality in interactive garments.

His latest collection, “Untitled Body”, presented non-normative models on a fully digitalized catwalk, and left more than one with their mouths open. Furthermore, Jorge collaborates with visual artists and performers from the LGTBIQ+ scene, building a universe where clothes are almost an excuse to talk about other things.

3. Marina Cobo: slow fashion, really

In a world obsessed with the viral and the immediate, Marina is committed to the complete opposite. Each garment is handmade in their small workshop in Girona, using only recycled or organic materials. No seasonal collections or trends. Their philosophy is clear: less, but better.

Although its aesthetics might seem simple, that is exactly where its strength lies. Clean lines, neutral colors, cuts that flatter any body type. The result is clothes that don’t scream, but don’t need to to stay with you.

Marina also promotes free workshops for young people interested in sustainable fashion. And that, honestly, adds points.

4. Elías Soria: the punk of tailoring

If you thought the suit was dead, wait until you see what Elías does. This designer from Seville (although with half a foot in Berlin) has reinvented tailoring to turn it into something radical. Create custom pieces with impossible cuts, recycled fabrics and a clear political message: “elegance can also be rebellious.”

It is not uncommon for musicians, activists or visual artists to be among their clients. And although their collections are not for everyone’s tastes, there is something undeniable: each garment of theirs has something that makes you look twice.

Fashion or statement? In Elías’s case, probably both.

5. Aina Marín: textile poetry from the Mediterranean

From Palma de Mallorca, Aina Marín designs like someone writing a poem. Their collections are delicate, full of layers, transparencies and a color palette that seems taken from a Sorolla painting. But make no mistake: beneath that ethereal aesthetic there is a very solid discourse about ecology, feminism and diverse bodies.

The interesting thing is that it does not seek to make an impact with large parades or advertising campaigns. Their strategy is more intimate, almost artisanal. But it works. More and more independent magazines include it in their editorials, and its online community does not stop growing.

Emerging fashion or ephemeral fashion?

Now, it is also important to ask yourself some questions: what does it really mean to be “emerging” today? To what extent do these proposals have a real space in a market dominated by big brands? Is there a risk that these new voices will be absorbed by the commercial logic that they precisely seek to question?

Some experts warn that the emerging boom can also become a trap: a label that seems revolutionary, but that deep down continues to feed the same wheel of rapid consumption. And that, if there is no structure that supports the real growth of these designers, their impact could remain a passing fad.

In summary…

Spanish fashion is experiencing a moment of creative ferment. You don’t have to go to Paris or New York to find innovation, diversity and risk. Just pay attention to what is happening in the workshops, schools and social networks here.

Inés, Jorge, Marina, Elías and Aina are just a small sample of a broader movement that is changing the rules of the game. What will happen to them in the coming years? That remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: they are worth keeping track of.

Perhaps the true luxury in 2025 will not be in the logos, but in the stories behind each garment. And who decides to tell them.
