An institutional act for diversity

The presentation of the campaign took place at the Palauet Albéniz, in an event that is part of the commemoration of the International Day against LGTBI-phobia, celebrated on May 17. This event serves as the starting point for the celebrations of International LGTBI Pride Day, which will have its central day on June 28.

The mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, He chaired the meeting together with the Commissioner for Children, Adolescents, Youth and LGTBI Policies, Javier Rodríguez. Representatives of the member entities of the LGTBI Municipal Council, the organizing committee of the Barcelona WorldPride 2030 candidacy, as well as municipal personnel, security forces and historical figures linked to the collective’s struggle participated in the reception.

“Viu el teu orgull”: The poster of a welcoming city

The key moment of the event was the unveiling of the campaign poster for this year, presided over by the motto “Viu el teu pride.” This message seeks to project Barcelona as an environment where many LGTBI people can live with a tranquility and security that they do not find in other geographical locations.

The campaign highlights the city’s ability to allow the full development of personal identity in a safe environment. Furthermore, with this image, the City Council reinforces its firm commitment to the fight against any form of discrimination and, specifically, against the increase in hate speech.

Barcelona WorldPride 2030 Candidacy

Within the framework of this presentation, the city’s ambition to become an international benchmark in the fight for civil rights has been highlighted. Barcelona has already formally presented its candidacy to host the WorldPride 2030, an objective that has had the support of the entities and the organizing committee present at the Palauet Albéniz event.

This strategic step seeks to consolidate the city’s trajectory in terms of LGTBI policies and place it at the epicenter of global activism during the next decade.

Programming in neighborhoods and museums

This year’s Pride will not be limited to the main events on June 28. During the months of June and July, Barcelona will display an agenda that will combine a festive nature with a protest. This programming will reach all districts through the neighborhoods, municipal facilities and the city’s museum network.

The objective of this broad cultural and social offer, designed for all audiences, is to raise awareness about the importance of continuing to defend the rights of LGTBI people. Local institutions have emphasized that this mobilization is more necessary than ever in the face of the rise in hate speech, seeking to involve all citizens in the protection of the rights they have achieved.
