For two weeks, public television is dedicated to special programming that celebrates the rights and visibility of the LGTBIQ+ collective.
Every June, Pride becomes an opportunity to make visible, celebrate and also to remember everything that remains to be done. And RTVE, for yet another year, wanted to join this essential event. From the end of June to July 7, the public channel will fill its schedule with diverse content: movies, concerts, reports, special programs and, of course, the live broadcast of the main events of Pride 2025 at the state level.
But this celebration goes beyond the screen. RTVE also launches a series of internal initiatives to promote inclusion within its own workforce. Badges with the word “respect”, awareness workshops and informative publications on its corporate intranet seek to remember that diversity is not a slogan: it is a reality that must be lived every day, also in work environments.
‘Saca tu Pride’: RTVE gets on the float again
For the fourth consecutive year, RTVE will be present at the state Pride demonstration in Madrid with its now traditional float and a special display. The program ‘Saca tu Orgullo 2025’ will be broadcast live on Saturday, July 5 from 7:30 p.m. on La 1 and from 9:00 p.m. on La 2, with Eva Soriano and Aitor Albizua at the helm. The broadcast will include testimonies from attendees, live connections and many surprises from the demonstration route.
In addition, Pridevisión returns, an initiative that unites music, activism and Eurovision. This year K!NGDOM, DeTeresa, Soraya and more artists who are part of that cultural network that brings diversity to the stage will perform.
‘20 years of love’: music to celebrate a legal milestone
This Pride also coincides with a fundamental anniversary: two decades since the approval of equal marriage in Spain. To celebrate, RTVE organizes a great concert on Sunday, July 6 from the Plaza de España, with artists such as Ana Torroja, Marta Sánchez, Rozalén, Gloria Trevi, Pastora Soler, Samantha Hudson or Maria Peláe. Presented by Ruth Lorenzo and Inés Hernand, the event can be followed on La 2 from 9:30 p.m.
20 years of equal marriage: what has changed?
RTVE’s news services join the celebration with special reports, coverage and analysis. In the News News, the 24 Hours Channel or Weekly Report will review how that historical moment was experienced and what impact it has had on the lives of LGTBIQ+ people. In addition, the special program ‘Iguales, 20 años’ will delve into the dialogue between generations, with voices such as those of the activist Paco Tomás or the content creator Daniel Valero (Tigrillo).
Other topics that RTVE Noticias will address include biphobia, the persecution of the group in countries like Hungary, the evolution of rights in the world or how artificial intelligence is being used to spread hate speech and misinformation. An approach that seeks not only to inform, but also to invite reflection.
Cinema with a diverse perspective
Cinema continues to be a powerful tool to understand and empathize. For this reason, RTVE has prepared a special programming that includes titles such as I am loving you madly, Pride, The blue caftan, 20,000 species of bees or classics such as The Passenger Lovers and Sex Change. The films will be broadcast between La 1 and La 2, in spaces such as Spanish Version, History of our cinema or El cine de La 2.
Documentaries and series to see ourselves reflected
La 2 will also offer a program full of documentaries that address the history, challenges and realities of the LGTBIQ+ collective: from Deleted by Putin, about repression in Russia, to A homosexual champion in Germany Nazi. The documentary series ‘Genderless Generation’ will also be released, which gives voice to non-binary young people and their families, showing the most human and complex side of gender identity.
RTVE Play: exclusive rainbow content
The RTVE Play platform launches a thematic channel called RTVE Orgullo, available until July 7. There you can find own productions such as We All Play, about LGTBIQ+ athletes in different corners of the world, or the video podcast ‘Esta el oven para bollos’, with guests such as Zahara or Javiera Mena. Also notable are the specials The Lawyers & Company and Table for 4, which bring together key figures such as Manuela Carmena, Villano Antillano or La Cendejas.
