Did you know that in the province of Seville there are dozens of public resources focused on gender equality and LGTBIQ+ diversity? Surely not. And not because they do not exist, but because many times we do not know where to find them. For this reason, the Provincial Council of Seville has taken an important step: it has just launched the Provincial Map of Resources for Equality and Diversity, an interactive tool that wants to do just that, make visible.
This map, available online from the Provincial Council’s website, gathers and organizes key information on municipal services aimed at women and people from the LGTBIQ+ group. But it doesn’t stop at that: it is also a reflection of the commitment (or lack thereof) of each locality with the construction of more egalitarian and inclusive spaces.
What can you find on the map?
The map is not just a list. It is an interactive guide that allows you to explore the territory and know, in a clear and visual way, what resources exist in each municipality. Among others:
- Municipal Equality Points: public spaces that offer care, information and guidance for women.
- Visible Points: services dedicated to the LGTBIQ+ population.
- Useful information such as addresses, telephone numbers, hours and contact emails.
- Municipalities that have developed strategic equality plans or protocols against harassment.
- Collectives, women’s associations, LGTBIQ+ networks and businesswomen’s groups.
- Links to current regulations, articles of interest and resources to delve deeper into these topics.
More than a map: a political tool
This new digital resource is not an isolated initiative. It is part of the future Observatory for Equality and Diversity, a broader project with which the Provincial Council seeks to promote the analysis, participation and development of inclusive public policies.
Will this platform serve to drive real change? Or will it remain a repository of good intentions? For now, it is a solid base. And, above all, a clear gesture: equality is not just a discourse, it also needs structure, data and access.
An invitation to look (and act)
Whoever accesses the map will not only find practical information. You will also be able to read between the lines. Because where there are no Visible Points, where protocols or equality plans are lacking, silence also counts for things. And that, perhaps, is the most valuable thing about this tool.
The Seville Provincial Council has made it clear that its bet is serious. But, as always, equality is not a goal that is achieved with a digital tool. It is a living process, which needs resources… and people willing to use them.
