Celebrate to resist, resist to be

The countdown has already begun. June 28, International LGTBIQ+ Pride Day, is approaching, and Barcelona is preparing to live it not as a single day, but as an extended, shared and meaningful time. During the months of June and July, the city transforms into a mosaic of activities that cross neighborhoods, generations and identities, with more than 70 proposals designed to reclaim, reflect and also enjoy.

Libraries, civic centers, youth spaces and neighborhood centers will be filled with talks, workshops, cinema, art and community meetings. A programming that is committed to proximity, the Intersectional approach, the transfeminist perspective and, above all, to give voice to the real diversity that inhabits Barcelona.

Agenda with a neighborhood soul

Pride 2025 is not only experienced in the center or on large avenues. It goes from small squares, to streets where life stories intersect, to cultural centers that open their doors to all expressions of being. Some highlights:

  • June 10: Workshop “Sexual, emotional and gender diversity” at the Nou Barris Library.
  • June 13: Screening of short films at Regenera’t, at Pati Llimona (Ciutat Vella).
  • June 25: LGTBIQ+ Vermutada at BAU (Sant Martí), with music, activism and community.
  • June 26: The show The anti-fascist star lands at the CC Tomasa Cuevas – Les Corts.
  • July 12: Fifth edition of the Trini Pride, on the Trinitat Vella Metro Slab.

Museums are not far behind either. Some reinterpret their spaces with a critical and LGTBIQ+ perspective, such as the Museum of Erotica, with its itinerary on diversity and desire, or the MNAC, which invites us to think about art from new perspectives with the commented tour Unsubmissive Looks.

Many voices, one heartbeat

This year, the Pride campaign in Barcelona gives prominence to anonymous neighbors who build the city from the authenticity of their experiences. Stories that not only inspire, but also challenge.

  • Katy Pallàs, teacher and activist, lives in Sants with her wife and son. For her, LGTBIQ+ visibility in childhood and adolescence is urgent: “They deserve pride, not silence”.
  • Shimar Guyo, Filipino trans woman, found a home in Barcelona to navigate her identity: “Here I am accepted. I am at home.”.
  • Bruno and Sebastián, an Argentine couple living in Baix Guinardó, make their love story a testimony against prejudice: “We do not suffer because of who we are, but because of how we they judge”.
  • Maria Giralt, veteran of the fight for LGTBI rights since 1977, does not give up in the face of setbacks: “Being visible is resistance. Not a step back!”.
  • Sophia Vargas, designer and activist, sums it up clearly: “We don’t fit into a single label.”.
