In a world where voice is an extension of our identity, what happens when that voice doesn’t resonate with who we truly are? For many trans people and non-binary people, the process of gender transition goes beyond the physical, entering into the search for a vocal expression that reflects their authentic being. With this profound need in mind, “Find the Voice” was born, a free vocal training workshop designed to accompany you on this transformative path.
Why is the voice so important in the transition?
The voice is a powerful tool of communication, but also of self-affirmation. For the LGTBIQ+ community, and particularly for trans and non-binary people, finding a voice that aligns with their gender identity can be a fundamental pillar in their well-being and confidence. This workshop not only seeks to modify technical aspects of the voice, but also to strengthen security and self-perception, allowing each person to feel comfortable and safe when expressing themselves.
A safe and personalized space
“Finding the Voice” is a group workshop that, however, is adapted to the individual needs of each participant. Isn’t it wonderful to think of a space where community drives personal growth? During eight 90-minute sessions, guided by experienced speech therapist Carolina Vásquez Henríquez, the reader will explore crucial aspects of the voice such as tone, intensity, rhythm, intonation, resonance and articulation.
Carolina Vásquez Henríquez, with more than nine years of experience, leads this project with a technical and ethical approach, guaranteeing safe accompaniment without vocal risks. Its methodology is based on three fundamental pillars:
- Phoniatrics and speech therapy: Using clinical tools to develop a safe and functional vocal technique, adapted to the anatomy of each person.
- Applied neuroscience: Incorporating elements to understand the vocal learning process, strengthen goal planning and promote sustainable changes.
- Mindfulness: Integrating conscious attention exercises to improve proprioception, respiratory control and connection with the structures involved in vocal production.
