The Huelva City Council, through its Nature Classroom, calls for the II LGTBIQ+ Story Contest on the occasion of the II local LGTBIQ+ Coexistence. This initiative seeks to get young creators between 15 and 29 years old to use literature to promote respect and visibility of the group in the capital of Huelva.
A commitment to young talent and diversity in Huelva
The Youth Area of the Huelva council, operating from the emblematic Nature Classroom of Moret Park, has designed this contest as a tool for social transformation. It is not just a conventional literary contest, but a space for expression where awareness about the reality of the community LGTBIQ+ It is the backbone.
The call is open to both professional and amateur writers, as long as they meet the stipulated age range at the closing of the deadline. The organization has been clear in its foundations: the primary objective is to create an archive of stories that reflect the plurality of identities and orientations, allowing youth to speak in the construction of a more inclusive society.
Technical requirements to participate in the literary contest
To guarantee equal opportunities and the quality of the proposals, the Huelva City Council has established specific guidelines. Each participant may submit a maximum of one original story, which must not have previously been awarded in other contests. The theme must be closely linked to the LGTBIQ+ community, allowing approaches that range from fiction to testimonial narrative.
Regarding format, texts must be presented in digital format, using classic fonts such as Arial or Times New Roman with single spacing. The length is flexible but rigorous: the body of the story must occupy a minimum of one page and a maximum of ten. This breadth allows for everything from short, direct stories to narratives with deeper character development.
Registration deadlines and process for sending originals
The official contest schedule is now underway. The deadline for receiving works began on April 27, 2026 and will remain open until May 31, 2026. Awards and jury evaluation criteria
The jury, made up of qualified personnel from the Youth Area, will base its verdict on two fundamental pillars: the originality of the proposal and the relevance of the story regarding the LGTBIQ+ theme. Fresh voices will be sought to provide new perspectives on sexual and gender diversity.
The winner will receive a pack of LGTBIQ+ novels and a gift bag. In addition to the material incentive, the winning stories will enjoy significant dissemination, since they will be published on institutional social networks with due recognition of authorship. Although the organizers reserve the right to use the texts for educational purposes, the authors will retain their intellectual property rights at all times.
