The Santiago Parade 2026 already has a date. The Movement for Integration and Homosexual Liberation (Movilh) announced on October 14 that the XIX edition of the March for LGBTIQ+ Equality will be on Saturday, November 14, at 14:00, in Plaza Baquedano, in front of the University of Chile Theater, in Santiago.

What is the Santiago Parade?

The Santiago Parade is the March for LGBTIQ+ Equality organized each year by Movilh in the Chilean capital. In 2026 it celebrates its nineteenth edition and is part of the National Diversity Day, also known as National Pride Day.

Movilh invites LGBTIQ+ people, their families and friends, and those who support a more equal society: “We invite everyone to join and fill the Alameda again with the colors of diversity.”

What does the 2026 march advocate for?

The main demand of the Santiago Parade 2026 is to reform the Zamudio Law, the Chilean law against discrimination, to have better legal tools to prevent and sanction it. “Chile needs a reform of the Zamudio Law that allows for better handling of discrimination,” defends Movilh.

The second demand is the rejection of fines and sanctions against Pride marches. The organization criticizes the fine for “nuisances” that was applied to the 2025 mobilization, including threats of imprisonment. Its response is clear: “We are not a nuisance”. And it adds: “Pride cannot be treated as a nuisance that must be silenced.”

Where it comes from: the 2025 march

The 2025 edition was held in November, a week before the presidential and parliamentary elections in Chile, and took to the streets against the advance of the far-right. Its slogan was “No vote for those who discriminate”, according to El Desconcierto.

Movilh estimated participation at 80,000 people. At that time, full equality of rights and the reform of the Zamudio Law were already being demanded, the same as is being requested this year.

A Pride amidst a debate on trans rights

The Santiago Parade 2026 arrives in a tense autumn for LGBTIQ+ rights in Chile. On October 6, Movilh denounced that the 2027 Budget project of the José Antonio Kast Government does not include explicit funding for the Gender Identity Support Program (PAIG) or for the Trans Health Program.

On October 8, Chile signed a declaration from the Coalition for Equality of Rights, which brings together 44 States, against “the global increase in anti-LGBTIQ+ rhetoric.” Movilh valued it but called for coherence between the government’s foreign policy and domestic policy.
