  • The multidisciplinary artist is recognized for her ability to question norms and generate a necessary conversation in public spaces.
  • The Pink Triangle is an award with a critical vocation that figures such as José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero or Irene Montero received in previous years.
  • The gala will be held on May 28 in Madrid, coinciding with the historic 40th anniversary of the founding of COGAM.

COGAM has once again shaken up the Madrid cultural scene by announcing the most disruptive name on its record for this year: Samantha Hudson will receive the 2026 Pink Triangle Award. With this award, the LGTBI+ collective of Madrid not only rewards a meteoric career, but also points out Hudson as an essential figure for understanding tensions, discourses and freedom of expression in today’s Spain.

A prize for critical reflection

Unlike other categories, the Pink Triangle has its own identity within COGAM. Its objective is to point out realities or figures that generate a broad social debate and invite reflection on the obstacles and setbacks in the rights of the group. Samantha Hudson, who rose to fame in 2015 with her viral ‘Maricón’, represents precisely that ability to leave no one indifferent, using provocation as a political tool to expand the limits of what can be said and be in the public space.

Hudson thus joins a historic list of winners in this category that includes names of the stature of Manolita Chen, Manuela Carmena or Ángela Rodríguez Pam, reflecting COGAM’s desire to reward voices that, from the institution or culture, break the mold.

The 40th anniversary of an institution

The presentation of this award comes at a sweet moment for Samantha, after consolidating her career with works such as ‘Music for dolls’ (2025) and her recognition as Best Spanish Artist at the MTV EMAs. Her presence at the gala completes a luxury line-up that also includes the actress. Alba Flores, the writer Alana S. Portero, the filmmaker Eduardo Casanova and the president of RTVE, Jose Pablo Lopez.

The ceremony will take place on May 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Madrid, in a gala that promises to be historic, as it will serve to celebrate COGAM’s four decades of activism in the capital.
