Revord shared her love for the British setting with Woman’s World: “I’ve always wanted to write something set in England. I love the place and there are so many amazing romantic comedies set in England — Love Actually, Notting Hill, The Holiday — and I’ve always loved the aesthetic of them.”
Additionally, she revealed the inspiration behind Avery’s story: “I’ve had ideas for Avery for a while, but never really a plot or a backstory. The main incident is, in a way, what started this whole journey, and it was because a friend told me that she had a potentially serious health problem, and I started thinking about how that could affect other relationships. That, in a way, led to what the relationship between Avery and her mother became.” It’s fascinating how personal experiences, even the most challenging ones, can germinate into narratives that resonate with others.
The message behind the fiction: Patience as the key
Finally, Raegan Revord also shared what she hopes readers take away from her novel. Beyond the romance, she highlights the personal evolution of her character: “I think there are several things. There is, obviously, the romantic plot, but there is also Avery’s character arc. At the beginning of the book, she is not the most confident person. She has never dated anyone, she is not sure what career she wants to follow and she also does not know if moving to England is the right decision. There is a lot of uncertainty. And then, at the end of the book, she is a very confident person, she knows what she wants to do and trusts herself. The message is that you have to give things time.”

Revord emphasizes the importance of patience and trust in the process: “When a lot of people feel stuck or insecure, they try to rush and want the answer to come right away. But Avery just went with the flow, which is very difficult to do. I think you just have to give it time and trust that the answer will come, and that you can’t force it, that’s very important. And she learns that throughout the book.”
