Before going to sleep, a gesture

What do you do right before going to bed? Do you turn off the lights, check your phone, hug someone, hug yourself?

In a world that often demands productivity from us even during rest, giving yourself a few minutes of care can become a revolutionary act. Because this mask is not just for hydrating your skin. It’s to listen to you. To tell you “you’ve come this far, well done.” To remember that you are valid, desirable and enough even with your face smeared and your hair messy.

Today we invite you to create your own nourishing night mask. Ideal for dry, dull skin or simply for those who have had a bad day.

Why at night?

Because that is when the body goes into repair mode. While we sleep, the skin regenerates more intensely, body temperature changes and cosmetic active ingredients are better absorbed. But also, because at night there is no rush, no outside glances, no filters. Just you, your skin and what you want to tell yourself in the mirror.

Main ingredients and why they work 🌿

  • Ripe avocado: Rich in fatty acids, vitamins E, D and A. Deeply moisturizes and leaves the skin soft and supple.
  • Ground oat flakes: Soothe, soften and balance. They are perfect for sensitive skin or skin prone to irritation.
  • Jojoba or argan oil: They nourish without clogging pores. They provide elasticity and luminosity.
  • Honey or agave syrup (optional): Natural moisturizers and humectants. They also have mild antibacterial properties.
  • Lavender or chamomile essential oil (optional): Relax body and mind. But if your skin reacts easily, you can skip them without a problem.

Homemade overnight mask recipe

Approx. quantity: 1 use

Duration: immediate (not kept, made and used)

🍃 Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons ripe avocado (well mashed)
  • 1 teaspoon fine oats (you can grind them)
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil (jojoba, argan or similar)
  • 1/2 teaspoon honey or agave syrup (optional)
  • 1 drop of mild essential oil (optional)

🛠 Utensils:

  • Small bowl
  • Spoon
  • Face brush (optional)

  • Time without interruptions

Step by step 🛏️

  1. Prepare your space

    - Publicidad-

Close the door. Play soft music if you want. Put your hair up. This moment is yours alone.

  2. Mix the ingredients

In a bowl, mash the avocado well until it is smooth. Add the oats, vegetable oil and honey or agave if you decide to use it. Mix until you get a creamy and easy-to-spread texture.

  3. Apply with love

With clean hands or a brush, apply the mask to a clean, dry face. Avoid the eye and lip contour. If you have extra, use it on your neck or hands.

  4. Rest and feel

Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Take advantage of that time to breathe, meditate or just be. You don’t need to do anything else.

  5. Remove with warm water

Rinse with gentle movements. If you want, you can help yourself with a muslin or sponge. Pat dry with a clean towel, without rubbing.

  6. Optional: seal with a few drops of vegetable oil

If your skin asks for it, you can finish with a few drops of oil to seal in all that hydration and let it act overnight.

What type of skin is it for?

This mask is especially indicated for dry, sensitive or devitalized skin, but it can also be used on combination skin if the amount of oil is adapted. If your skin is oily, you may prefer other lighter textures that we will work on in future installments.

Can it be kept?

No. As it has fresh ingredients (avocado especially), this mask should be used right after making it. The good news is that you can adjust the quantities to avoid waste.

Can it be made with other fruits?

Yes! You can try ripe banana, cooked pumpkin or even papaya. Each one has different properties and you can rotate it depending on the season, your needs or what’s in your kitchen. Sometimes the best ingredient is the one you already have.

Night care is also political

When we have been told that our skin “does not fit into the norm”, that our expression “is excessive”, that we should “make do” to fit in… choosing how and when to take care of yourself becomes a form of resistance.

This mask does not whiten, does not erase, does not promise miracles. But it does accompany. And that gesture—intimate, free and yours—has a transformative power.

In the next installment…

A refreshing facial mist with hydrosols, cucumber and essential oils. Perfect to carry in your purse, subway or Pride bag. Because cooling can also be queer.
