Grupotel Mayorazgo transforms a room in its hotel into a permanent tribute to the most emblematic LGTBIQ+ neighborhood in the capital

Madrid not only celebrates Pride in June. In the heart of Gran Vía, steps from the bustling neighborhood of Chueca, there is a place where diversity is not decorated seasonally, but is experienced all year round. This is “La de Chueca”, one of the themed rooms at the Grupotel Mayorazgo hotel, which turns each stay into a colorful and emotional nod to freedom, identity and the traditional soul of the city.

A tribute to diversity… in a very Madrid way

Grupotel Mayorazgo has been betting for years on an original proposal: rooms inspired by the most iconic corners of Madrid. From references to the squid sandwich to tributes to La Violetera or Madrid de los Austrias, each of its 200 themed rooms has a story to tell.

But among all of them, “La de Chueca” shines with its own light. And not only because of its colorful aesthetics, but because it pays tribute to one of the most lively, diverse and welcoming neighborhoods in the capital. Inspired by the mythical metro station that bears its name, this room wants to be a small sanctuary of inclusion within the hotel. A space that celebrates the freedom of being oneself, without labels or imposed rules.

More than a room, an experience with pride

During MADO (Madrid Pride), it is easy to understand why this room takes on a special meaning. But the interesting thing is that it is not designed only for that week. “La de Chueca” is presented as a declaration of intentions 365 days a year.

The decoration is loaded with symbols, colors and graphic references that refer to the neighborhood, but also to the LGTBIQ+ movement as a whole. It is a space that does not want to be neutral, but rather clearly position itself on the side of respect, inclusion and the joy of living authentically.

Sleeping in this room is not simply booking a night in a hotel: it is joining a message, breathing the spirit of a neighborhood that has been a refuge, a trench, a party and a family for so many.

Madrid, a city of refuge: more than a tourist postcard

It is no coincidence that a hotel like the Mayorazgo wants to incorporate the Chueca neighborhood into its identity. Madrid has been, for decades, a city that welcomes. For many LGTBIQ+ people, it has been that place to go to when in other places they could not live in freedom. Chueca, in particular, has functioned as an epicenter of demands, but also of culture, gastronomy, fashion and nightlife.

By dedicating a room to the neighborhood, the hotel sends a clear nod to those looking not only for a bed, but for an emotional and symbolic experience that speaks of who we are. And everything that still remains to celebrate (and claim).
