A crucial and necessary space returns to Barcelona. The Centro LGTBI de Barcelona and the Plural Center of Masculinities have joined forces once again to launch the second edition of their Men’s Group, a meeting and reflection point designed for gay, bisexual, trans and intersex men. This cycle is not just one meeting; It is an invitation to explore what it means to inhabit the world as a man who dissident from the cisheterosexual norm.
The initiative is born from a fundamental premise: promoting healthier, fairer and more conscious ways of being a man within the LGTBIQ+ community. Have you ever wondered how male socialization has affected you? This is the ideal place to discuss it.
A focus on self-care, violence and emotional ties
The experience of the first edition, held in the spring of 2025, already demonstrated the urgency of having more safe and respectful forums to address such delicate topics as violence, sexuality, affection and self-care in relationships between LGTBIQ+ men.
The group is designed for you, the reader, if you are looking for a welcoming environment among equals to share experiences and collectively reflect on:
- Male socializationand its mandates.
- The affective-sexual relationships from a critical perspective.
- The violence that is exercised and received.
- Self-careas a tool for personal resistance.
The objective is to actively contribute to building more equitable masculinities. But to what extent are we willing to deconstruct inherited norms to forge our own, freer path? The answer lies in joint reflection.
A collaborative and secure methodology
The quality of this space is guaranteed by a team of professionals who will ensure the creation of a friendly and safe environment, where each person can express themselves with total freedom.
The sessions will be facilitated by:
- Hèctor González Quiles: Social worker with a solid track record at the LGTBI Center of Barcelona, facilitating groups and accompanying people from the group.
- Isaac Navarro Madroño: Social worker and gender equality technician at the Plural Center, expert in intervention with masculinities and group dynamization.
Both will adopt an active but horizontal role, promoting the protagonism of the participants. They will use participatory and collaborative methodologies, promoting exchange from an intersectional perspective. Recognizing and valuing the diversity of trajectories and identities is a central pillar in this process.
