Why is the Pride March not authorized?
The City of Buenos Aires approved a resolution on September 17 that suspends all authorizations for events in public spaces during the papal visit. This is Joint Resolution 1/SECMU/26, which cites security and logistical needs of “extraordinary magnitude”.
According to authorities, the operation will involve street closures and traffic restrictions. The pope will arrive in the country on November 8 and his visit will extend until 11. As an alternative, it was proposed to hold the March on November 21.
