  • Benita (the iconic psychic) stars in a two-episode documentary about her physical, legal and emotional transition.
  • The premiere will be on Tuesday, March 31 (10:20 p.m.) on La 2 and RTVE Play, coinciding with International Trans Day of Visibility.
  • It has the support of VIPs such as Lola Lolita, Belén Esteban and Inés Hernand, along with references such as Carla Antonelli.

RTVE and the production company Zeppelin presented this Tuesday at the Ministerio de Igualdad ‘Benita’, the bravest and most personal project of the well-known television collaborator. Benita shows herself without filters on a journey that ranges from obtaining her new ID to her gender reaffirmation surgery. The series seeks to humanize the reality of older trans people, demonstrating that authenticity does not understand age or imposed times.

It will premiere in the prime time of La 2 next Tuesday, March 31, International Transgender Day of Visibility.

Maturity as a scene of freedom

What started as a confession on a talent show has become a real and sincere testimony of survival. Benita has chosen this name in honor of her mother, who always supported her: “This project is my path, neither better nor worse, simply mine,” she confessed excitedly during the presentation. The docuseries is not only a change of image, it is a claim for rights and public space for a generation that lived in the shadows.

The first episode immerses us in his childhood and the emotional impact of the legal procedures. For Benita, a simple identity document is the mirror in which she finally recognizes herself before society. In addition, the premiere will be part of a special night on La 2 dedicated to visibility, which will be completed with the broadcast of the film ‘Norberta’.

A new reference for trans memory in Spain

‘Benita’ is not alone on this journey. The docuseries relies on expert voices and friends of pop culture to analyze the challenges of the collective. From the political analysis of Carla Antonelli or the historical activism of Manolita Chen, to the unconditional support of figures such as Nagore Robles, Pilar Rubio or Lola Lolita, the project builds bridges between different generations.

The production stands out for showing the less media-friendly side of the protagonist, revealing the woman behind the television character. As Minister Ana Redondo pointed out in the Auditorium of the Ministry of Equality, this premiere is the triumph of “courage and conviction.” At a time when visibility is more necessary than ever, RTVE Play is committed to a story that is, above all, a hymn to life and the possibility of starting over at any age.
