A campaign that puts a face to diversity from close quarters

Rivas Vaciamadrid has already kicked off its LGTBIQ+ Pride 2025 campaign. Under the motto ‘Pride and neighborhood’, the city is betting this year on a celebration anchored in the community. It’s not just about flags or big slogans: the proposal seeks to put the people of the municipality at the center, with their stories, their struggle and their pride.

Four neighbors —Eneko Jiménez, Aroa Elvira Delgado, Oti Camacho and Héctor Sanz— will be the visible image of this edition. All of them with different trajectories but with a shared objective: to make emotional-sexual and gender diversity visible in the closest environment. They will also be in charge of reading the proclamation during the main festival of June 13, in the emblematic Plaza de la Constitución.

Pride from the roots: the local as a form of resistance

“We wanted to get closer to the local with people from here, from Rivas, and with different experiences that reflect the fight against LGTBIphobia and hate speech,” declared the mayor Aída Castillejo during the presentation. At her side, Mimi Chamorro, Councilor for Feminisms and Diversity, highlighted the importance of continuing to create spaces that not only celebrate but also vindicate.

Because Pride is not just a party. It is also an emotional trench, an open square, a stage where art, memory, denunciation and the future fit.

Outstanding programming of LGTBIQ+ Pride 2025 in Rivas

📅 Wednesday, June 4: Memory and scene

  • Tribute to Bernabé Fernández
Place: Atrio Building (Av. José Hierro, 63)
Se will present a distinction to the actor from Ripense who marked a before and after by starring in the first teenage gay kiss on Spanish television in the 90s. His social activism, including his collaboration with UNRWA, makes him a key figure for collective memory.

  • Monlogue ‘Gloria’, by Elisa Coll
Place: Atrio Building (Av. José Hierro, 36)
A tragicomedy with acid overtones that, from the living room of an ultra-Catholic grandmother, goes through uncomfortable questions about identity, death and the passage of time. A proposal as brutal as it is necessary.

🎉 Friday, June 13: Pride Festival in the Plaza de la Constitución

  • 19:00 Welcome and presentation, with Estrella Xtravaganza, drag queen, performer and activist of the ballroom. Its presence is not coincidental: it represents a form of artistic expression born of resistance, a celebration of dissident identities.
