Learning a language does not have a single recipe, and at Wanders Idiomas they know this well: this French academy located in the El Viso neighborhood of Madrid has built a proposal that supports each person —regardless of their age or goal— from the first class to real fluency. Their Wanders Method, designed for students to speak from day one, adapts to childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and also to those who are betting on their professional future in an exam.

A method designed for speaking, not just for studying grammar

The Wanders Method arises from a simple idea: the lack of adapted methodology, the excess of grammar books and repetitive exercises are often what hinders a person from speaking a language fluently. That’s why the academy’s approach is summarized in three verbs: hear, understand, and speak.

The method is based on five pillars: students as protagonists from the first class; a native, trained, and creative teaching staff that prepares all the material —without relying on textbooks— so that practice occurs in the classroom; personalized classes in groups of a maximum of 4 students of the same level and profile, after a demanding placement test; a dynamic methodology with varied activities; and immersion workshops, such as the free monthly sessions “Vermut y francés”, designed to practice with native speakers outside the classroom.

According to data from the academy itself, this approach translates into a 100% pass rate in official exams for its students. Wanders Idiomas also offers free trial classes for anyone who wants to get to know the method before deciding.

French classes for all ages

One of the traits that distinguishes Wanders Idiomas is that its proposal is not aimed at a single student profile, but rather supports the learning of French at every stage of life.

For girls, boys, and young people, the academy organizes groups by age —from 6 to 8, from 9 to 11, and from 12 to 14 years— with a maximum of 4 to 6 students per class and weekly sessions of 90 minutes. The methodology is adapted so that each child is the protagonist of the conversation, grammar is explained clearly and applied in thematic activities, and cultural immersion and overcoming the fear of speaking in public are also worked on. According to the academy, in one year, young students already understand and read in French, and in two years they can communicate fluently.

For adults, classes maintain groups of a maximum of 4 students and sessions of an hour and a half, with early work on phonetics and verbal construction to start forming sentences from day one, native and qualified teachers, and a mandatory placement test that guarantees homogeneous level groups.

For the professional field, Wanders Idiomas designs individual classes or small groups of 4 to 5 people, focused on the technical vocabulary of sectors such as health, law, tourism, technology, advertising, marketing, or finance, aimed at those who need to communicate with French-speaking companies. These classes can also benefit from funding through the Tripartite Foundation.

Specific preparation for the diplomatic career exam

French is a mandatory language in the Spanish diplomatic career exam, along with English —other languages, such as German or Arabic, are optional and add points—. Wanders Idiomas has developed a specific program for those preparing for this exam, with two formats depending on the starting level.

Those who already have a B2 level or higher access individual classes of one hour per week, focused on the specific exercises of the exam —summaries, essay writing, oral presentation— along with a review of the most common topics and reinforcement of grammar and vocabulary. Those starting from a lower level have an intensive one-month course, in groups of 4 students, with classes of an hour and a half from Monday to Thursday, designed to reach the necessary level before transitioning to the individual format.

In both cases, the Wanders Method is applied to identify the weak points of each candidate, reinforce both oral and written expression, and provide personalized follow-up until the day of the exam.

Language immersion experiences in French

Beyond the classroom, Wanders Idiomas organizes two language immersion programs designed to make a significant leap in level in a short time.

The one aimed at candidates for the diplomatic career takes place in Miraflores de la Sierra (Madrid), with two formats: one of two weeks for B2/C1 levels, in groups of up to 10 people, and another of a full month for B1 level, in groups of 5, designed to reach B2. The routine combines four hours of French in the morning —grammar, vocabulary, and essay writing—, rotating workshops of 45 minutes in the afternoon with up to five different teachers on oral fluency, pronunciation, and thematic debate (geopolitics, culture, economy, technology, environment), and structured debates at night to gain spontaneity. The stay includes full board, personalized error correction, and continuous professional feedback.

The immersion program for schools, aimed at educational centers throughout Spain, takes place over a week during the school year and combines an intensive French course with the Wanders Method and recreational activities conducted in French —games, adventure activities, treasure hunts—, an excursion to Madrid, and 24-hour supervision by trained monitors. The group is personalized according to the needs of each center, and up to two accompanying teachers can participate with free full board, in a program designed together with the school’s own teaching staff.

A method for any stage of life

From the first words in French in childhood to the last review before an exam, Wanders Idiomas proposes a single philosophy —to speak from day one, in small groups and with close support— applied to each stage and each goal.
