Fuenla Entiende has launched the second edition of its LGTBIQ+ Short Film Contest, under the title “Coming Out. Our Stories”. The entity invites the dissemination of this call among anyone, entity, or association that may be interested in participating, convinced that art and audiovisual creation are tools to promote reflection, empathy, and visibility of the LGTBIQ+ community.
What is the theme of this edition?
The theme of this second edition is “Coming Out”, understood from any perspective: experiences, fears, support, acceptance, or the freedom to be oneself. According to the rules, the theme of the works must be related to coming out experiences, affective-sexual and gender diversity, acceptance processes, identity, or any reality linked to the LGTBIQ+ community. Works that stand out for their originality, expressiveness, image quality, sound, script, and professionalism will be especially valued.
Who can participate?
Anyone, individually or in groups, can participate. Each participant or group may submit a maximum of one work. In the case of participation by minors, authorization from their legal representative will be required.
What characteristics must the short films meet?
The submitted short films must:
- Be original and unpublished.
- Be related to the proposed theme.
- Have a minimum duration of 3 minutes [NOTE: the rules indicate a maximum duration in a contradictory manner: first “10 minutes” and then “5 minutes, including credits”, in the same sentence — pending confirmation with Fuenla Entiende].
- Be presented in horizontal format and in MP4 format.
- Have been made by the participants themselves.
Works of fiction, documentary, animation, or experimental format are accepted. The rules expressly specify that works made with AI, in whole or in part, will not be accepted.
How and where are the works submitted?
The works are submitted in digital format to the email concursofuenlaentiende@gmail.com, indicating in the subject “II Fuenla Entiende LGTB Short Film Contest”. Each submission must include:
- The short film.
- Title of the short film.
- Name and surname of the participant or the members of the group.
- ID of the participant or members of the group.
- Email and contact phone number.
- Brief synopsis of the work (maximum 300 words).
- Authorization for minors, when applicable.
What is the deadline and when will the results be known?
The submission period for the works is open from July 1, 2026, to October 15, 2026, at 23:59. The jury’s decision will be communicated by phone to the winning individuals on November 2, and will be disseminated on social media starting November 3, 2026.
What are the prizes and who makes up the jury?
The established prizes are:
- First Prize: €200
- Two runner-up prizes of €75 each
The jury will be composed of three members from Fuenla Entiende, a technical member from the Diversity team of the City Council, and a professional from the field of cinema and acting.
What happens to the rights of the works?
The submitted works may be used in various dissemination platforms and activities or materials of Fuenla Entiende LGTB, always citing the authorship of the work. In any case, the authors will retain the copyright that the legislation on intellectual property grants them over the works, especially regarding the right of attribution and the right to integrity of the work.
Participation in the contest implies full acceptance of the rules; any unforeseen situation will be resolved by the organization, and non-compliance with any of the rules will result in the disqualification of the participant. Personal data will be processed in accordance with current data protection regulations.
