Air Europa, one of our featured airlines, has taken a significant step with the modification of its V Collective Agreement for Technical Flight Crew. This agreement is not just any one; It incorporates concrete measures of equality and non-discrimination specifically aimed at the LGTBIQ+ community.

The news, officially published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), arises from an agreement between the company management and the Sepla union section. The goal? Comply with Royal Decree 1026/2024, a key regulation that seeks to guarantee equality and non-discrimination of LGTBI people in the Spanish business environment.

Adaptations that Weave a Stronger Protection Network

The adaptations to this agreement touch upon crucial points of the employment relationship. From the personal and functional sphere to the conditions of entry, promotion, licenses and the regime of offenses and sanctions, the modifications seek to weave a stronger and more equitable protection network.

One of the most applauded novelties is the guarantee of protection against any form of rejection, prejudice or LGTBIFóbic discrimination. This is materialized through robust protocols against harassment and violence at work, creating a safer and more respectful environment for all professionals.

Mandatory Training: Dismantling Stereotypes in Selection

But inclusion goes beyond protection. The agreement also establishes a firm commitment to mandatory training. So that? To dismantle those harsh stereotypes that sometimes sneak into selection processes, ensuring that talent is the only relevant criterion.

Protecting Rights for Diverse Families: Recognizing Plurality

In addition, the rights and benefits for diverse families are protected. This includes, of course, access to permits and other advantages for LGTBI spouses and de facto partners, recognizing the plurality of family models in our society.

In the disciplinary field, the agreement is forceful: any behavior that violates the dignity, privacy or sexual freedom of a person, regardless of their orientation, sexual identity or gender expression, will be considered a very serious offense. A clear and powerful message against intolerance.

These types of agreements invite us to reflect. How do these advances impact the normalization and acceptance of diversity in traditionally more conservative spaces such as aeronautics? What role do collective agreements play in building more just and egalitarian societies? These are questions that, as a reader, we invite you to think about.

The modification of the V Air Europa Convention is a reminder that the fight for equality is a constant path, with victories that we must celebrate and share. It is an example of how regulations and the will of the parties can come together to create work environments where all professionals, without exception, can develop their potential fully and with dignity.
